WHITEHAWK have commemorated local WWII hero Private Charlie Standing to mark this year’s Armistice Day as an acclaimed micro-budget feature film World War II: The Long Walk Home, telling the remarkable story, rises up the charts.

The Pitching In Isthmian League Division One South East Hawks are celebrating their 75th anniversary and have unveiled a plaque at their ground.

Formed as Whitehawk & Manor Farm Old Boys club in 1945, it was around the same time that Private Standing and his wife Tup settled in the area and would often watch games with his son Terry.
