GRANT CHOOSES ROMANS' ROAD

The 23-year-old left-back has joined the National League South Romans after a frustrating season that was impacted by injury before it got going.

Former Wealdstone defender Grant joined Maidenhead United last summer but he tore his ankle ligaments in pre-season and was playing catch-up from then on.

He had a short loan spell with Hemel Hempstead before leaving Alan Devonshire’s Magpies.

And while he says his time at York Road taught him a lot, he’s raring to go and show everyone why he had so much interest in his services this summer.

“It’s so hard to recover an injury sustained in pre-season – it highlights how important pre-season is for players,” Grant told The NLP. “Having missed that, at a level that is already a step up, I felt like I was always chasing and always one step behind.
