DAWSON DISHES A HAMMER BLOW

The Hammers defender latched onto Jarrod Bowen’s cross to finally end the Hatters’ hopes of a cup upset amid the pouring rain at Edgeley Park.

It was a performance to bring pride to all Hatters fans having to watch at home on BT Sport – not to mention long-standing manager Jim Gannon, a self-confessed West Ham supporter.

“It’s a tough way to lose the game and the players are naturally disappointed with the outcome but isn’t that a sign of how far they have come that they are disappointed to lose 1-0 to a Premier League side,” he said.
