NATIONAL LEAGUE
THERE’S nothing like a late winner to produce a buzz around the Torquay United dressing room – but Scott Boden has urged his teammates to keep their feet on the ground ahead of a tense title run-in.
Boden headed home Adam Randell’s cross in the seventh minute of time added on keep the Gulls on top of the table with a 2-1 victory over Aldershot Town.
It was the 13th game this season that Gary Johnson’s men had scored in the final 10 minutes of a match – a haul which has yielded 11 wins and 24 points.
Striker Boden, 31, has proved a pivotal figure in the Gulls side since re-joining the club on loan from promotion rivals Chesterfield in February.
And although he admits his timely intervention produced joyous scenes afterwards, he knows there’s plenty of hard work to come.
“I’m exhausted, everyone went mental in there,” Boden said. “There’s been a few times since I’ve been here that we’ve scored a late goal but that one means a little bit more.
