Plastic waste is a global phenomenon, and its negative impacts can be seen throughout the world. Various global campaigns are working to reduce the plastic waste, yet it has not been enough to make a mark in the growth of discarded plastic. The repercussion of its disposal is impactful to each component of our environment. Plastic waste in its various forms is increasing in landfills. Due to disastrous effects plastic has on our atmosphere, environmentalists are constantly putting their best efforts to get a remedy to the problem of plastic disposal. One of the techniques employed is the 5R’s (reduce, recycle, reuse, recover, and residual management), which is a fundamental concept of waste management and should be followed while dumping waste. Due to rapid industrialization and urbanization, the demand of plastic materials is increasing on a large scale. To produce cost-effective materials that a common person can afford easily, various organizations are working in this direction.
Brick is the largest material used in the construction industries and occupies a large portion of the total materials used, especially in residential projects. New ideas are now being implemented to resolve the issue of non-biodegradable waste. The objective is to reduce the consumption of natural resources such as clay for the manufacturing of bricks, minimize and reuse generation of waste plastic on the land.
