Several individuals and organisations, under the banner of the Civil Society Of Sikkim, have rejected the proposed NHPC Teesta Stage-IV hydel power project in Dzongu and new mega power projects in Sikkim. The protestors strongly believe that the Teesta Stage-IV hydel power project in Dzongu and the other proposed hydel power projects will destroy the state's ecology and adversely impact the livelihood of the people who are dependent on the rivers for their livelihood.
We strongly object to such proposals and demand that the Teesta Stage-IV project should not be implemented in Dzongu. Similarly, other new hydel power projects should not come up in Sikkim as such projects will only destroy our ecology, reported Sikkim Express quoting I AM 371F Campaign coordinator Passang Sherpa.
