BJP IN ASSAM GETS A MAJOR BOOST IN LOCAL COUNCIL ELECTIONS
Northeast Today|January 2021
The ruling BJP has received a major boost just ahead of the state assembly elections which is scheduled to be held in April 2021, by managing to increase its footprint in the BTR region, and sweeping the Tiwa Autonomous Council elections, both of which were held in December.

In the BTR election, the BJP managed to come third and won 9 out of the 40 seats, while the BPF emerged as the single largest party with 17 seats and the UPPL won 12 seats. Congress and Gana Suraksha Party (GSP) won one seat each.

The BJP formed the council in alliance with the UPPL and GSP.

The BJP which has 61 out of 126 seats in the Assam assembly is short of just three MLAs for a majority and so is exploring newer territories to expand. Though the BJP enjoys a comfortable majority in alliance with the AGP and BPF, the party is keen to have a simple majority on its own in the state, so that it can pass legislations without support from its allies.

Craven Moorehead: MAY I SEND YOU A MESSAGE?

With all the recent activity in my life, it becomes unusually difficult for me to enjoy just hanging out or being my usual rotten self. I have been constantly reminded of my degenerate lifestyle and lack of reasonable income, plus the fact that no matter what I do, some kind of crap comes up that prevents my happiness and success. Well, not really. I mean, it could be worse - much worse.
