As Assam goes to poll on March 27, Northeast Today tried to find out as to what do the young and first-time voters think and whom they will vote for

The 15th Assam Legislative Election is scheduled to take place in three phases on March 27, April 2, and April 6. The results will be declared on May 2. Various political parties are busy with their intense poll campaigns and are trying their best to woo the voters.

However, only time will tell if the BJP comes back to power for the second time or will the Congress-AIUDF alliance that will have the last laugh?

Can there be a repeat of 1985 and witness the formation of a new government under the leadership of two new regional parties- Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) and Raijor Dal (RD).

A lot depends on what the voters decide, especially the young voters that comprise 33% of the total voters of the state.

Moreover, a total of 64% of 6.46 lakh youths, who turned 18 in 2021, have been enrolled in the final electoral rolls in Assam.

The office of the Assam chief electoral officer (CEO) informed that no single voter in the 18-19 age group has been left out.

So, what does this percentage of young voters have in the ensuing Assam assembly polls?
