THE world of football can be a strange one at times – and some clubs and fans have traditions that prove it.Union Berlin have one that encompasses football fans joining together in the festive spirit without a ball even being kicked.

After losing their final game before the usual winter break in Germany back in 2003, just shy of 100 fans broke into the stadium to try to end the year in a more positive frame of mind.

The brave cohort sang carols and enjoyed mulled wine before the idea became a tradition every winter at the club based in the capital. Now legal, the 28,000-seater stadium regularly sells out for the famous event.
