While every town saw its share of municipal and school issues, and keeping the public informed is a hugely important part of my work as a reporter, it was the stories of local folks doing cool, often civic-minded things that stood out for me in 2019.

In February, Blue Hill resident Suzanne Fenders published a book, The Power of Love, on raising a child with the chronic, serious disease VACTERL Association. Woven through her heart-warming and heart-wrenching account is plenty about Blue Hill and the life of a military wife. Profiling her story and her book was an honor.
