STONINGTON—The town of Isle au Haut is asking nonresidents to stay off the island, which has an aging community and no medical facilities.

The mail boat is taking steps to make sure the COVID-19 coronavirus doesn’t reach the island.

Isle au Haut selectmen on March 18 posted a statement making clear they had taken in the welcome mat.
