The year gone by might be termed as a ‘bleak phase’ for the state of Arunachal Pradesh. The year 2016 saw a lot of political turmoil and unrest in the state during which chief ministers were changed several times and displaying total disregard towards parliamentary democracy. MLAs changed their political affiliation from one party to another. In other words, a section of the greedy and power hungry politicians ‘murdered’ all the hopes and aspirations bestowed upon them by the voters during the elections. On the development front too, apart from the routine works, the state achieved hardly anything. In fact, there are reports of massive fiscal irregularities and mismanagement by the successive governments and its agencies who ruled the state during the year. However, amidst all the negative news, there were some occasional positive news too, which held promise of taking the developmental activities of the state, a few steps forward.

As September approaches there begins a change in Delhi, morning becomes cooler, midday sun a bit friendly, humidity too pretends to be packing off and a sense of an all-pervasive thermal comfortability becomes visible outdoors. Even before the countrywide lockdown, the state government got the message across and the result was that the people got used to lockdown conditions well in advance. The success in controlling the outbreak of COVID-19 in Meghalaya is a collective effort from the Government initiatives along with public support.
