New Footpath Link For Mayogall Primary School
IT is hoped that the commencement of work to in-stall a new footpath along the busy Mayogall Road, will improve safety for local school children.
St Brigid’s Mayogall, with the support of the local community, has been campaigning for a number of years to have a new footpath built from their school to the grounds of the nearby St Mary’s Church.
As there is no parking provision outside the school, parents are forced to park within the chapel carpark, then walk their children along the footpath to school.
However safety concerns have been raised in the past over the narrow footpath that the children are forced to use.
Due to the large number of pedestrians using the footpath at school drop off and collection times, pedestrians are sometimes forced to step off the pavement onto the road.
However, the school has recently received the welcoming news that work to build a new, much wider footpath, is due to get underway in the coming days.
