THE wider community of Magherafelt has been plunged into sadness following the death of a local man in a house fire.
The man, who was aged in his 50’s, was last night named locally as Terence McCann.
Firefighters were called to a bungalow on Highfield Road at around 3.30pm on Sunday afternoon after being notified by the PSNI.
Upon arrival at the scene, it was discovered that a small fire in the living room had already burnt itself out and a man had died.
It is believed that Mr McCann was originally from the Randalstown area and had been living in Magherafelt for the past two years.
