Speaking on the first morning of the show, Alexis Hammer, director of Americas & Asia Pacific with the United Kingdom Government’s Defence and Security Organisation told AMR that British industrial was “helping to drive progressive modernisation programmes, partnering in enduring long-term industrial developments and assisting in the technical education and training of military personnel in the Asia Pacific region.”
He said that companies such as BAE Systems and Qinetiq had a long history of exporting not only into Southeast Asia, but also in the wider region particularly Australia. With an eye on a post-Brexit economy, he added that UK companies largely supported technology transfer and localisation, and were ready to support regional growth through enduring relationships.
