“I didn’t listen to music as a teenager, which is weird. I didn’t emotionally connect with music until I was in college. One of the first albums I fell in love with though was Live It Out’ by Metric. It was one of the first records I bonded with other people over. I made friends because of that album. Before that I was a very regimented and school-focussed kid. My biological dad was an addict, and I think I had a very classic reaction to that. I wanted to control my universe. I was so hell bent on that; I didn’t really give room for myself to explore these other parts of my brain. It wasn’t until college that I got untethered from that and started discovering music. I realised there was a whole part of me I hadn’t accessed before.”
