When we recorded Bowie’s album The Man Who Sold The World in 1970, we felt we had had enough with the folk-rock influence of his previous Space Oddity album. We had met guitarist Mick Ronson during the mixing sessions, and we were very impressed with him. We wanted the next one to sound a lot tougher and more experimental.
