Time to take a chance, to roll the dice, to venture out and see what lies over all these horizons, leaving behind all the comforts of the past 11 years of my life. Friends, work, clients, my apartment, all the security of living in a small mountain town began to dissipate as pedals cranked into the unknown. The quest at hand: tattoo and travel through all 50 states via a fully loaded bicycle!
The year before, I had done my first long distance solo bicycle tour across America. Riding from San Francisco to New York, arriving at the house I grew up in on my 40th birthday. It had been a decade long dream and a whirlwind trip across the country that open my eyes to the freedom of bicycle travel. The experiences, the people, the adventure! Never really knowing where the day will take you or what you will come across. It’s the same feeling of excitement as when you are a kid and get your first bicycle. All of a sudden you can go anywhere in the neighborhood except, the neighborhood just got a whole lot bigger. A life changing endeavor, to say the least. It wasn’t long after returning home to Colorado that a plan began to emerge. How can I combine my love for tattooing along with the freedom and adventure of bicycle travel? Easy, go on the road! A bicycle/tattoo tour was the only thing that made sense.

How do you trailside camp?
Fact: For most of us, camping and wheeling go together. It’s a safe bet that where there’s folks gathered to wheel for more than a day there’s probably camping involved.
Come Together
SOMETIMES IT’S EASY to get bogged down in negativity, especially coming out of 2020. We’re going through a pandemic, many of us haven’t seen our families in almost a year, and all the fun activities we used to do (horse related or not) have been rescheduled, canceled, or set aside for the time being.
