SOME MIGHT describe Odell Beckham as inherently extra. You can see it in the touchdown dances, the workouts in designer threads and the cascade of platinum curls down his face. You can see it in the way he transforms a simple white T-shirt into a swagged-out affair. It’s all about attitude, and that’s why the NFL star tops SI’s third annual Fashionable 50 list, honoring the most stylish athletes in sports. “Anybody can go buy clothes and put them on,” he says. But not everyone can wear them like Beckham.

BEFORE THE thick beard and the blond ’do, before the collage of hundreds of tattoos covered his body, before the Spiderman-like, three-finger snag that broke the Internet, Odell Beckham Jr. had a pink velvet blazer. Even as a teenager getting ready for his middle school dance, the Giants wide receiver always had to find a way to stand out.

“Everybody was getting their suits and I was wondering, What can I do to be different?” here calls.“That blazer might have been a size too big at the time, but I just had to have it. To me, it was the hottest thing in the world.”
