Sure, we show more on RCCarAction.com, and once a year we pick one stand-out ride to showcase as our Reader&rsquo;s Ride of the Year&mdash;but once a year just isn&rsquo;t enough! With that in mind, we decided to put together a feature highlighting one of the more impressive builds we&rsquo;ve recently received. Dan Boyle is a former RRotY winner, but his Blazer Monster is an all-new project. In fact, he finished it just a couple of weeks before this story went to press! We asked Dan to guide us through some of the highlights of his custom build.Dan Boyle spends his days&nbsp;in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii&mdash;yet somehow he still finds enough free time to build these amazing custom rigs. Dan&rsquo;s specialty is hyper-detailed chassis, suspension, and engine items using tons of custom handmade pieces&mdash;many machined in metal. His craftsmanship is on full display on the Blazer. On the following pages are Dan&rsquo;s favorite features.I used real wood from a cigar box to create a wooden bed and gave it a couple of coats of clear polyurethane. The high-lift jack is an RC4WD item, which actually works. I mounted two extra gas cans and a pair of firearms in case of emergencies out in the middle of nowhere!I used RC Channel axles as they are the most realistic. The axles have been treated to a solution that creates real rust for that &ldquo;used&rdquo; look.Final ThoughtsBuilds like Dan&rsquo;s serve as an inspiration.
