Some Steroids Should Be Standard Therapy
By Steve Blechman and Thomas Fahey

The government’s ill-advised Anabolic Steroids Control Act of 1990 criminalized the non-medical use of anabolic steroids. This has had the unfortunate effect of curtailing their use for legitimate medical purposes. A study by Dr. Robert Demling, from the burn center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Boston, presented a paper at the American Medical Director’s Association meeting showing that the anabolic steroid oxandrolone and a well-balanced diet increased weight and wound healing rate in patients. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved oxandrolone for promoting weight gain. This study suggests that anabolic steroids – along with diet – should be a standard therapy for treating and preventing involuntary weight loss. Anabolic steroids would be valuable for anyone in a catabolic state, including people with bedsores, impaired immunity, urinary tract infections, pneumonia, or even old age. People in nursing homes might be able to move better if given these drugs. Previous studies from this hospital showed that oxandrolone helps men put on muscle even if they don’t lift weighs.(Medcape.com)

SERGIO OLIVA JR.: 2021 WILL BE MY YEAR

This son of three-time Mr. Olympia Sergio Oliva never holds back. Best of all, he can dish it out and take it too, which is why many other pros avoid engaging with him at all. Sergio only competed once in 2020 with a resonating fifth place at his first Arnold Classic, the first time we’d seen him on stage since the 2018 Mr. Olympia. I hadn’t spoken with him since shortly after the Arnold, the weekend when the COVID-19 pandemic began turning our world upside down. Since that feels like 20 years ago, it was high time to catch up with this genuine, passionate, and often hilarious bodybuilding star.
