Embrace the elements to create captivating images

Use an anchor.

The water vapor in the air obscures distant terrain, which emphasizes receding depth. Use a foreground anchor—rocks, trees, a person, a tent—to give the viewer a place to begin the visual journey through the image. Look for a scene that has multiple layers of depth instead of just a single object surrounded by fog.

Focus manually.

Mist and fog can interfere with auto focus. Switch to manual focus and use a small aperture to maximize depth of field. Make sure your anchor is sharp.

Capture movement.
