According to the dictionary “off-roading” refers to the activity of driving or riding a vehicle on unsurfaced roads or tracks, made of materials such as sand, gravel, riverbeds, mud, snow, rocks, and other natural terrain. In this feature, we take a look at some of the off-road adventures available throughout Southern Africa and take you on “the road less travelled”.
The naturally rugged landscape of southern Africa automatically lends itself to creating some of the most seriously fun off-road adventures imaginable and it also means there’s no shortage of challenging terrain to explore. even if you don’t own a 4x4 vehicle, off-road trailer or caravan it’s easy enough to hire one so don’t miss out on an opportunity to go looking for adventure off the beaten track.
Off-road adventures are not only limited to 4x4 vehicles. They can involve any vehicles which have been adapted to suit the rough terrain found off the beaten track and include sport utility vehicles (Suvs), motorbikes, mountain bikes and quad bikes, trailers and caravans.
