Your music expert Lisa-Marie Ferla shines a spotlight on Paisley, as well as upcoming tours and releases
PAISLEY may have lost out to Coventryas UK City of Culture 2021, but Scotland’s largest town has no intention of letting the campaign momentum lapse.
It’s already set to host the Scottish Album of the Year award ceremony for a third time – but before that, this month sees a takeover with a difference, courtesy of the Scottish Alternative Music Awards (SAMAs).
The SAMA Paisley Takeover on March 2-3 promises music, spoken word, seminars, workshops and in-store performances, with Heir of the Cursed, Siobhan Wilson, Pronto Mama and local poets Robert Blair and Shaun Moore among early confirmed names.
March also marks two years of crowdfunded record label Last Night From Glasgow, which will take over Stereo and the Old Hairdressers on the city’s Renfield Lane for a dual-venue birthday celebration on March 31.
Hosted by label stalwart Stephen Solo, the event will feature bands from across their varied roster including Terry Pratchett-inspired electro dream poppers L Space and expansive indie funk trio Sun Rose.
