The Boutique Experience in Mexico City
The PEAK Hong Kong|December 2016

Bilateral trade between the two has increased 600-fold in the last decade or so and agreements in the avoidance of double taxation, customs, intellectual property, and the acceleration of small and medium-sized enterprises are in place. And with Mexico projected to become the seventh-largest economy in the world in the next 15 years, businessmen and women in Hong Kong might do well to look beyond tacos and tequila, particularly because, as former Consul General of Mexico to Hong Kong and Macau Alicia Buenrostro Massieu put it earlier this year, Mexico is an unstoppable technology-based manufacturing powerhouse with an increasing share of global trade, sound demographics, increased equality and social inclusion, a more active civil society, and an enhanced rule of law, and, she said, it is reaching out enthusiastically to Hong Kong.

For those visiting the city, there are plenty of beautiful and classy properties that offer design- or heritage-led stays in the sprawling and ancient capital. Boutique hotels across Mexico City go in for subtlety and style without a sombrero in sight, although you can perhaps expect a welcome drink of Herradura Plata and Mexican art hanging on the walls.

Grupo Habita are, they say, the first to open a truly boutique property in Mexico City. Still very much boutique by global hotel brand standards, the group has four properties in the city as well as a few in other parts of the country and a further few scattered around the globe.

On Location in Mexico S.W.A.T.

A nameless stranger rolls into town and unexpectedly saves the day. It's easy to see how the 1985 Clint Eastwood Western Pale Rider inspired the drama's cinematic two-part premiere-even if gunslinger heroics are the last thing on Hondo's (Shemar Moore) mind when we catch up with him.

‘FOREVER PURGE' GETS POLITICAL ON SOUTHERN BORDER

“The Forever Purge” is set along the U.S.-Mexican border and it’s perhaps the most overtly political of the series, portraying a ragtag group of Americans trying to flee the anarchy and white supremacy of Texas for the safety of Mexico as the annual U.S. bloodlust event turns into an everyday abomination.
