Ian Yee had no intention of being a journalist. In fact, he admits he got into the industry almost by accident. While waiting to further his studies, he sought a temporary job and signed on to be a cadet journalist at The Star’s youth section, R.AGE.
It was the words of his editor Ivy Soon that changed the way he saw journalism. She often said journalism is a force of good that can be used to tackle big social issues and bring about real change. That convinced him to become a journalist full-time and has not looked back since.
We caught up with Yee to learn more about how he has led his award-winning investigative team.
