Luxe Hold Hands

FOR ALL ITS formidable players, the luxury space is not without its areas of overlap. Across disparate disciplines and canvases, the respective ardour and legacy of individual brands resound with symphonic gravitas when perceived as universal markers of finery. From that rarefied playing field, we present the best luxury collaborations in recent memory; the ones that make the most compelling case for intertwining approaches to craftsmanship, design and quality.

CARS

Sacai x Mercedes-AMG

Proving that the worlds of luxury fashion and high-performance motoring can commingle meaningfully, this collaboration includes a capsule collection of apparel and a wrap for the latest Mercedes-AMG GT. This vehicle pays direct homage to the German automaker's iconic first race car, the Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.8 AMG, better known as Red Pig. Throwback details adorn both the clothing and the mirrored chrome wrap, testifying to fan service that cuts both ways. Sacai founder and lead designer Chitose Abe said it best: "The purest intention is to start from the archetype, which also applies to collaborations, working with the original and the best in their respective fields."

Porsche x Aimé Leon Dore

Teddy Santis, the founder and creative director of New York-based fashion and lifestyle brand, Aimé Leon Dore (ALD), is a known car fanatic. On the cusp of his third outing with Porsche, it is worth noting that it is the designer's eye for crisp design and exacting attitude for quality that have put him on the radar of the German automobile company. Unveiled in mid-2023, the third ALD x Porsche collaboration is a co-designed Midnight Blue 1960 Porsche 356B whose chassis is accented with handprinted decals of ALD's gold leaf logo.
