Tim Atwood Shares That Old Time Religion

Tim, along with wife Roxane, produced That Old Time Religion for Greg Irvin and Texas based i2i Records. “I spent most of my life playing piano for Country music’s elite on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry ® , but I grew up playing Gospel music in little country churches,” Atwood said. “I know what talent I have is a gift from God. That Old Time Religion is my gift back to God.”

This first Gospel album from Atwood was brought about by reflecting back to the hymns he learned in his childhood and played in country churches throughout America. These hymns cemented the very foundation of his faith. Tim put together a 13-track album, in which 12 tracks are well-known Gospel favorites that take the listener on a spiritual journey destined to involve those on the receiving end to sing along and clap their hands. The first track is the exception, “Out Of Tune Piano” was written by Roxane especially for this project.

While most songs on That Old Time Religion are Classic Country in their presentation, Tim played every song on his new project the way he felt them in his soul. Some renditions may be new to the listener. On this album Tim plays all piano and keyboard parts and called on several legendary friends to put their touch on these Gospel favorites.

Country Music Hall of Fame ® member, Bobby Bare joins Tim for a duet on the classically pure and simple Country Gospel version of “Precious Memories.” Opry ® legends Jeannie Seely and Jan Howard, along with TG Shepard, Kelly Lang and The Tennessee River Boys, join Tim on the album’s title track, “That Old Time Religion.” Vocal powerhouse Mandy Barnett adds some Country Soul to Tim’s rendition of “Let’s All Go Down To The River.”
