The new OMEGA Seamaster Diver 300M pays homage to the line’s storied past while sporting significant upgrades
It has been 25 years since the Seamaster Diver 300M was launched, and it remains one of the most recognisable watches OMEGA has ever made. While the original Seamaster 300 was created in 1957, iterations of the beloved model remain relevant and continue to make waves for professionals who work underwater, as well as watch enthusiasts.
Since its inception, the timepiece has proven its technical prowess through the personalities who have worn it. In 1993, the Frenchman Roland Specker achieved a world record 80m freshwater free dive while sporting the watch, successfully testing its deep water capabilities. The legendary Sir Peter Blake led Team New Zealand’s sailors to victory at the 1995 America’s Cup, with several of his members wearing this timepiece. Sports stars like swimmer Alexander Popov and tennis great Martina Hingis also championed the Seamaster Diver 300M as their timepiece of choice, though designed for divers.
