For far too long, senior members of the royal family have been divided over how to deal with what’s now become known as ‘the Harry and Meghan problem’.
Despite enduring months of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex publicly smearing the monarchy in scandalous interviews, the Queen and Prince Charles have retained a dignified silence, only insisting via a Buckingham Palace spokesperson that the couple’s recollections of bad treatment “may vary” from their own.
However, New Idea understands that behind closed doors, Princess Anne and Prince William have “loudly disagreed” with the pair’s strategy of “playing nice and staying quiet”.
“Even before Harry and Meghan severed ties, William and Anne agreed they were going to be a nightmare from an organisational and public relations perspective. But even they are surprised by the extent of how right they were.”
Now, our palace insider says the Queen and Charles have finally agreed to a crisis meeting at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, where Her Majesty spends every summer. Joining them will be Anne, Wills, Duchess Kate, Prince Edward and his wife Sophie, Countess of Wessex.
