MARK BERETTA 'MY FAMILY REGRETS'

Mark Beretta is best known as Sunrise’s popular sports reporter, but the handsome star also works as a 7Sport commentator, having travelled around Australia and the globe covering everything from motorsports to the Olympics.

Away from the screen, the 55-year-old is a doting family man, sharing teenagers Ava and Daniel with his beautiful wife, Rachel.

Reflecting on his hugely successful career, Mark admits that the constant travelling as a sports commentator and the early hours on Sunrise come with some sacrifices.

“When the kids were little, they went to bed early and all the lights were off in our house by 7pm. But now they are staying up later and sleeping in, and you’re missing that family time in the morning,” he tells New Idea.

“Looking back, you think, I would have loved to spend more time at home, but life is what it is and you make the most of it. The job has given us extraordinary benefits as well, so I have no complaints – I am very grateful.”

As for how his kids feel about having their old man on TV, Mark says “they take it all in their stride”.
