According to Sadiya, she and her Co-founder, Darakhshan Husain and Feeroz Akhter long nursed a desire to start their own venture. “We were keen to do something for India’s beauty and wellness industry because as customers we always felt the need for quality salon services at affordable rates. But unfortunately, there was no brand operating in the budget segment in India’s salon business even though India’s beauty and wellness industry has been growing at a rapid pace,” explained Sadiya.
The Glam Studios team saw a latent opportunity when they found that almost 97.5 percent of the salons in India are unorganised. They also found that existing salons in India in the budget space were struggling to market themselves better, struggling to afford well-trained staff, to have access to sophisticated technologies, and to get better product discounts and training.
According to Sadiya, “Glam Studios is India’s first and only salon brand till now in the affordable segment. The rest of the salon industry in India comprises either unorganised salons or brands operating in the luxury, premium or mass premium segment.”
