Devialet adds a host of proprietary audio tech to their first true wireless earbuds

Following on from our Wireless audio feature in NXT August 2021 that included the Devialet Gemini true wireless earbuds, we were asked by Devialet’s Singapore representative if we would like to review a set, which I immediately agreed. As a technogeek, I’ve tried a number of Devialet Phantom speakers - all at their boutique, so trying out the Gemini out in the world was very welcome.

Out-of-the-box, however, the Gemini doesn’t resemble anything exceptional. As someone who has tried premium earbuds such as B&O’s Beoplay E8, and the Master & Dynamic MW07 Plus, the somewhat large wireless charging case of the Gemini felt light and a bit too plasticky, without the premium heft of the metallic MW07 Plus. The earbuds themselves are quite light, 8g each, and shaped in a vertical oval to sit comfortably in your ears, with four sizes of silicone eartips, though like the case, they’re an all plastic design, with a large single touchpad where the Devialet logo is, while the small vent sitting above the logo is actually designed (Devialet calls this the Pressure Balance Architecture) in the earbuds to relieve pressure build up, which will occur as these earbuds, in typical Devialet fashion, are quite bass biased.
