Jerry's Catfish House
Catfish still reigns in Mississippi, and if you doubt it, a visit to Jerry’s Catfish House in Florence is in order. I visited on a Thursday afternoon and arrived just a few minutes after they opened. By the time my order hit the table (service is snappy, so it wasn’t a long wait at all), Jerry’s was full and had a long line of hungry people waiting to get in the front door.
If you have driven Highway 49 just south of Jackson, you have no doubt seen Jerry’s. Jerry Bridges built it in 1986 as an energy-efficient dome shape, but it is also as eye-catching a structure as you will find in the state. This place hardly needs any advertising, as it is wildly popular and has been for years.
