No stranger to change, Surina Shukri is an advocate for the shift in norms, facing the tumultuous nature of change with an adaptability that is as whip-quick and sharp as her wit. Accompanied by her unflappable curiosity and an excitement for learning, Surina earned dual degrees in management and technology at the Wharton School, then another in systems engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. And after working for Exxonmobil locally, as soon as she completed her studies, Surina moved on and took a plunge into the frenetic energy of New York City’s bustling streets for the next 17 years.
“I left Malaysia despite everyone telling me to stay and not break my bond, because it was a lot of money to pay back. I thought it would set me off an entirely different trajectory for my path ahead, and I was excited at the prospect,” she said.
