Exotic Destinations For Wedding Portraits

CORDELIA DAPHNE LOW & MICHAEL LUO

Initially, I had planned on heading to Bali for our wedding portraits, but Michael convinced me that Turkey would be so much better. In the end, we decided on Istanbul and Cappadocia, and I’m so glad I agreed to his idea.

We did not go with an exact itinerary in mind, but we knew we wanted to shoot at a few iconic spots in Istanbul, like the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia and the Grand Bazaar. For the rest of our portraits, we just wandered around and stopped to take a shot whenever we stumbled upon somewhere nice.

For Cappadocia, the main highlight was definitely the sight of the hot air balloons at sunrise. The scene was so beautiful that it felt almost unreal!

Establishing a good rapport with your photographer, videographer and makeup artist is very important because you will be spending a lot of time with them. We also made sure we got enough to sleep the night before to look our best, especially for days when we had to shoot at sunrise.

I knew I wanted a variety of gown styles for the shoot. Silhouette The Atelier has lots of dreamy pieces that I absolutely fell in love with. The mermaid gowns are so detailed, and Michael loves them too. The Gown Connoisseur has stunning ballgowns that are classy and elegant, not to mention comfortable.

For our casual outfits, Michael and I planned them to make sure that our looks matched, but we did not want anything too cheesy either. It is always a good idea to bring extra outfits if your luggage permits.

TIPS & ADVICE

Pack comfortable sneakers that you can wear under your gowns to walk around in, and be extra careful not to damage the gowns.
