Claire Olshan se encuentra en una buena posición: tiene la piel limpia, se siente tranquila y duerme bien. Pero ése no era el caso hace cuatro años. La fundadora de la elegante boutique Fivestory en Upper East Side, Manhattan, sufría un torbellino de problemas dermatológicos. “Si me preguntabas qué tipo de piel tenía, te habría dicho que todas”. La neoyorquina recuerda su complexión esquizofrénica que, además, se veía influenciada por el estrés constante. Su cuerpo estaba agotado, tanto física como emocionalmente. “No importa si luces el más hermoso vestido Valentino durante una noche”, dice. “No te sientes bien a menos que lo experimentes desde adentro. Y yo estaba dispuesta a invertir en ello”.
Olshan, quien se encuentra embarazada de su primer hijo, duplicó el cuidado en su bienestar sin escatimar en gastos para internarse tres días en Transcendental Meditation, una práctica que involucra repetir en silencio mantras que calman la mente y reducen la ansiedad. “Gastaba 30 USD en una clase de una hora, a la que podía llegar tarde y no importaba”, explica. “O bien podía invertir 350 USD en un instructor privado por tres días y hacer que valiera la pena. Quería tomármelo en serio”. Ahora medita a diario y toma clases privadas de yoga en su departamento una vez a la semana. También trabaja con un entrenador de respiraciones y un sanador de energía. Mientras tanto, su piel nunca la había lucido mejor, asegura, gracias a los faciales que se realiza una vez cada tres o cuatro semanas, con tratamientos personalizados que incluyen absolutamente de todo, desde mascarillas de enzimas hasta un tratamiento dermaplaning.
