A spunky footwear brand gets a luxe update
The label’s classic slip-on gets an opulent reboot with their latest six-piece collection. Draped in satin brocade, they are reminiscent of traditional Japanese designs. And you can take your pick from pearlescent white, fiery red and lustrous black. They’re guaranteed to transform a drab outfit into a dramatic one as the classic silhouette, amalgamated with intricate floral patterns, makes it both practical and attention-grabbing. And we’re also crushing on the uber-feminine vibe as the monochromatic soles are a beautiful contrast to the jewel tones of the slip-ons.
BREAKING CONVENTION
The classic bandhgala is no longer a privilege just for the men, thanks to this designer
For the longest time, the bandhgala has been synonymous with menswear. And the first name that comes to mind is menswear extraordinaire, Raghavendra Rathore. With 25 years worth of experience in his kitty, his brand, Raghavendra Rathore Jodhpur, which rose from humble beginnings, has gone through a metamorphosis of sorts. This has established his atelier as a conservator of heritage and culture, which is fast fading in the country.
So, when word reached our ears that the designer had plans for ladies to sashay down the runway in bandhgalas, our curiosity was piqued. Back to rule the ramp, and the racks, Rathore gave us all the deets on his newest collection, aptly named ‘An Ode to the Bandhgala’. “The idea has always been to reinvent while staying true to the ethos of heritage. Reinterpreting the classic bandhgala and making it the sole inspiration was the design focus for this collection,” he says.
