This homegrown brand is reviving the traditional craft of gota in a remarkably innovative way with their debut couture collection
Gilded ribbons manipulated to create an appliqué of ornate patterns that adorn the hems of sarees and lehengas is gota patti. This artisanal craft finds its roots in Rajasthan, traditionally donned by the royals who wore gota embroidered using gold and silver threads. Paying homage to this beautiful, long-established craft is Good Earth’s debut couture collection, ‘The Miniaturist.’ Showcased at Lakmé Fashion Week 2018, the brand has ventured into couture a decade after their clothing line, ‘Sustain’, was launched. “Earlier this year, we (Good Earth) turned 22, and the idea for ‘The Miniaturist’ came almost instinctively to the design team,” says Simran Lal, cofounder, Good Earth. “We wanted to tell the story of a craft through the lens of couture and refinement. We used design intervention to reimagine gota,” she adds.

We're using our years of expertise and understanding of the industry to curate the coolest young brands that resonate with today's conscious consumers.
