Something you realise pretty early on in a marriage is that you don’t marry an individual, you marry an entire family. This can be lovely, and it can be not. When I met the tanned, blond, scuba-diving, hitchhiking Adventure Ken chiropractor with an unrecognisable accent and fell deeply in love in around seven seconds I had no way of knowing that somewhere on the far northern reaches of our planet in a small, cold town in Denmark was his family, comprising roughly eleventy-thousand people. To whom he was very, very close.
