Founder of Shalini Passi Art Foundation and MASH, Shalini has solidified her position in the field of art. Her passion for art and design is evident in her vast collection of furniture, tapestries, and rare antiques which includes some of the most coveted names in contemporary art, including Bharti Kher, Anita Dube, Sheba Chhachhi, Zarina Hashmi, and Atul Dodiya, alongside significant international artists such as Jeff Koons and Damian Hirst and Indian modernist masters such as M.F. Husain, Manjit Bawa, and Ram Kumar. We get in a conversation with Shalini talking about her definition of wellness, her message and how it all began.
You recently initiated the Shalini Passi Arts Foundation. Could you tell us a bit about that?
The Shalini Passi Art Foundation endeavours to create a new paradigm for artistic expression in India, by supporting, educating, and encouraging experimental new practices in the field of arts - including art, craft, design, architecture, fashion and jewellery - that takes inspiration from India’s rich cultural traditions to create a contemporary aesthetic for India. The Foundation offers a much needed intellectual platform within the ecosystem of the arts, which accelerates the emergence of a new aesthetic language for the region.
