Egypt, the oldest civilisation, is a transcontinental country in North Africa, sharing its borders with Palestine and Israel in the northeast, Gulf of Aqaba and the Red Sea to the east, Sudan to the south, and Libya to the west. Egypt, with its capital in the largest city, Cairo, is one of the most popular and the oldest tourist destinations. The place is most admired and appreciated for its preserved culture, the way they treasure its temples, monuments, and pharaohs. Ancient pyramids, temples, tombs are the major attractions of the place.
Most of Egypt’s landscape comprises barren land or deserts due to which most of the population is concentrated along the Nile valley and Delta. Because of the extremely parched climate, 99% of the population has to survive on 3% of the land. The climate here is usually hot, sunny, and dry. Winds often create huge sand dunes up to 100 ft in height. Egypt witnesses rain mostly in winter months and snow falls on Sinai’s mountains and in cities like Damietta, Baltim, and Sidi Barrani.
Egypt has the longest history as a country. It is considered the cradle of civilisation. The place has seen the earliest developments in agriculture, organised religion, government, and urbanization, which makes this an important part of its national identity. Its monuments, like the Pyramids of Giza, Karnak, Valley of Kings, Abu Simbel, Great Sphinx, and red pyramid, wonderfully reflect Egypt’s culture and legacy. With the largest Muslim population in the Arab World, it is also the trendsetter for the Arab-speaking world. Some of the popular tourist destinations include the Gulf of Aqaba beaches, Safaga, Sharm el-sheik, Hurghada, Luxor, Dahab, Ras Sudr, and Marsa Alam. The shining rivers of Egypt, beautiful beaches, camel rides to remote oases, the views from the Coptic monasteries attract many tourists worldwide. Thus tourism became the most important sector in Egypt’s economy and a way of earning bread for 12% of Egypt’s workforce.
The True Taste of Egyptian Culture
Egypt is home to the world’s most wondrous architecture. It was one of the first major civilizations to codify design elements in art and architecture. We can see entire Egyptian history through the wall paintings on colossal pyramids, temples, and monumental tombs. The destination has over 60 museums that reflect its vast cultural history passing through so many ages, like Pharaonic, Roman, Greek, and Islam. Undoubtedly, the country is a treasure for people who share a love for history, architecture, and archeology.
