The Bride - Wise Virgins With Enough Pure Oil
Foundations Magazine|Volume 2, Issue 15

We have a parable about 10 virgins. Five are wise and have sufficient oil and five are unwise and run out of oil. The story is about people who are attending a wedding … they are not the bride, nor are they guests. But they are close friends of the Bride. It is time for the Feast of Sukkot. And that means that it is time for a WEDDING. So what could this parable be telling us at this time of the yearly cycle of Feasts?

Roly Buys

Leviticus 23:33-44 “And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, “Speak to the people of Israel, saying, on the fifteenth day of this seventh month and for seven days is the Feast of Booths to the LORD. On the first day shall be a holy convocation; you shall not do any ordinary work. For seven days you shall present food offerings to the LORD. On the eighth day you shall hold a holy convocation and present a food offering to the LORD. It is a solemn assembly; you shall not do any ordinary work.”

Leviticus 23:37-44 “These are the appointed Feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim as times of holy convocation, for presenting to the LORD food offerings, burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings, each on its proper day, besides the LORD’s Sabbaths and besides your gifts and besides all your vow offerings and besides all your freewill offerings, which you give to the LORD. “On the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the produce of the land, you shall celebrate the Feast of the LORD seven days. On the first day shall be a solemn rest, and on the eighth day shall be a solemn rest. And you shall take on the first day the fruit of splendid trees, branches of palm trees and boughs of leafy trees and willows of the brook, and you shall rejoice before the LORD your GOD seven days. You shall celebrate it as a Feast to the LORD for seven days in the year. It is a statute forever throughout your generations; you shall celebrate it in the seventh month. You shall dwell in booths for seven days. All native Israelites shall dwell in booths, that your generations may know that I made the people of Israel dwell in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your GOD.” Thus Moses declared to the people of Israel the appointed Feasts of the LORD.”

PREPARING FOR THE END-TIMES

We are faced with a barrage of emails of end time prophecy. Mostly these mails speak to some or other “physical” event that WILL occur, to which many Scriptures are connected and which then results in some form of conclusion. I respect the efforts that these believers are taking.

(a) It is critical that we are awake and watching.

(b) It is critical that we are looking out for the TRUTH.

In the passage preceding this passage on the end-times, we are told that those who miss the signs will find themselves in a house that is desolate.

Matthew 23.38-39 “See, your house is left to you desolate. For I tell you, you will not see Me again, until you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the Name of the Lord.’”

May I suggest that we view this for a different point of perspective? Importantly, GOD warns us what it is that we should NOT see as signs:

Wars

False prophets

Matthew 24:4-6 “Yeshua replied: “Watch out! Don’t let anyone fool you! For many will come in My Name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah!’ and they will lead many astray. You will hear the noise of wars nearby and the news of wars far off; see to it that you don’t become frightened. Such things must happen, but the end is yet to come.”

GOD made mankind and has a very real interest that we walk in His ways

GOD is a Righteous Judge

GOD is a Loving Father

GOD desires to see mankind reflect His Glory

Are we seeing signs of end-times?

Physical manifestation of an unhappy environment … for sure. Growth in the world of paganism, occult and every other type of belief system …for sure. Compromise by those who profess to be believers … for sure. The advent of humanism, and the introduction into legislation of every type of activity, which is an abomination to GOD … for sure.

And as a very clear sign… The rapid rise in anti-Semitic rhetoric and violence against the Jews, which in time will come against all other belief systems. Yeshua speaks about the endtimes in Matthew 24 and then uses a parable to tell us a story of the end time (so that we can see where we stand). It is titled “The parable of the wise and foolish virgins”

Matthew 25:1-13 “Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went to meet the Bridegroom. Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. For when the foolish took their lamps, they took no oil with them, but the wise took flasks of oil with their lamps. As the Bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. But at midnight there was a cry, ‘Here is the Bridegroom! Come out to meet Him.’ Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.’ And while they were going to buy, the Bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with Him to the Marriage Feast, and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, LORD, Lord, open to us.’ But He answered, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”

Now let us review…

THE LAMP The lamp throughout the Bible speaks to the WORD OF GOD. The absolute truth! The WORD uncompromised by man’s traditions, thinking, and rituals” We find this connection in the following verses. This verse makes some important connections: GOD’s Word = lamp = a light that guides our steps.

Do we appreciate what a lamp meant in those days?

Destroying The Power Of Fear In Your Life

I cannot tell you how many times I've seen people's entire lives disrupted and ministries of God completely destroyed when people are moved by fear to do things they would never do without it. We humans are suckers for this spirit of fear. It paralyzes us and takes us over like a tsunami takes over a coastline village. The heart rate can go from 60-150 in a matter of seconds and this new and elevated stress causes the brain to make irrational decisions that can be as devastating as a category 5 hurricane.

Declair God A Psalm 92 Devotional

David speaks from a thankfulness in this psalm. Each of us come to days where thanks to God rings from our lips. We have other days when we become too rushed to think about thanking God or we are too overwhelmed with the burdens of life to see beyond what we face at that time. For these kinds of days, we most importantly need to praise God.

Saying "No"To Halloween

I grew up celebrating Halloween. In the words of the movie “Hocus Pocus” (I do not recommend you seeing this), Halloween is a night of “frolic” where children run “amuck”. I innocently dressed up as a pirate, a mermaid, a black cat, and a southern belle before the tradition got old and dressing up was no longer as fun. It is one of my mother’s biggest regrets of raising me, to give in to such a worldly holiday that has no place in the Believer’s home.

Married On Purpose

Too many people slide into marriage without much intentionality. It’s just something you do – “if we feel like it.” But for something as important as marriage, something that will affect your health, wellbeing and happiness for the rest of your life and the wellbeing of many others, “sliding” isn’t a good plan. The only way to succeed is to be Married on Purpose.

40 Days Of Worship

We are in the midst of 40 Days of Worship (40DoW). 24 September until 3 November 2017 is a time marked by a call for deep intimate worship of Jesus Christ and him alone. What makes this a unique expression of worship is that it is not a single program created by a single organiser nor is it being held in a single venue. Instead this is a time for all worshipers of Jesus to unite as one and create their own expressions of worship wherever and however they are led by the Holy Spirit.

A Broken Girl

I flipped through the pages of the book I held within my hands. I was engrossed. The stories of men and women came alive before my eyes; never could I have imagined just how powerfully the apocryphal stories would change my life. Encouraged by my Torah teacher, I devoured the Old Testament apocrypha, as though it were a single glass of water because it was and I was thirsty. Thirsty to discover the stories that had been forgotten and left out. One story however, had a particularly big impact on my heart it was the story of a woman named Judith. Judith was a woman acquainted with loss, but her bravery and courage struck something in me. I researched Judith’s story for an entire year, the incongruent dates, the strange characters, all of it, until I was satisfied. When I finally closed the book, I cried prayerfully and whispered to YHVH about this connection I felt with Judith. I could sense Him smiling, perhaps He knew something I didn’t, perhaps...

BOARD GAMES IN THE CLASSROOM

Gamers gather around a table to unbox a new board game or bring out an old favorite. Together, they enter into a unique experience of mental challenge, social interaction, and creative play — an experience that draws them together. But can this special experience have anything to do with learning? John Coveyou, founder of Genius Games, insists that it does. Whenever you take a seat around a table to play a board game, “your mind can’t not begin to pick up information about the world that the game is themed around.” Without a doubt, learning is part of the experience, but is it a big enough part to justify using board games in the classroom? If so, how can board games be best used for learning?
