Anna* walked into the café where we agreed to meet on Jalan Telawi, Bangsar, and caught the eye of the barista, who shyly smiled at her, fumbling as he tries to attach a cover on a paper coffee cup. At 165cm tall, she easily commanded attention in the room, something that I could never do even though I’m much taller than she is. Prior to the meeting, I scrolled her perfectly-curated Instagram profile filled with OOTDs, selfies and glamorous lifestyle shots to get a general idea of her life. ‘Fabulous’ was the one word I’d use to sum her up and true to form, she came dressed to impress. I had requested for her to come sans makeup to see her ‘natural’ beauty with my own eyes. From her high cheekbones to pointed nose tip and full lips, I couldn’t look away – she was flawless. And I mean really flawless. Fair and smooth, her skin looked dewy and there wasn’t even an enlarged pore to my naked eye!

“I got my lips, jaw and chin done,” she said unabashedly. “Of course, I only tell this to my closest friends,” she added. For Anna, it started when she was looking for a solution to acne. “I had a severe pimple problem at the time and the doctor I was seeing suggested injecting just a tiny bit of Botox to block oil glands, causing them to stop producing excessive oil, which was the root cause of my problem. At first I dismissed the idea, thinking it was too extreme, but the worse it got, the more desperate I became – so I decided to give it go. The results were beyond amazing and that opened my mind up to other possibilities,” shared Anna.
