Julia Pewsey is one of our county’s most renowned local artists, specialising in pet portraits.
‘I think my earliest inspiration was from my parents, who were both art teachers at Tabor High School in Braintree,’ explains Julia. ‘My dad was head of art and we always had pencils and paints out at home. Growing up, my two sisters and I were always doing something artistic.
‘I was brought up in Gosfield which, being surrounded by fields, provided much artistic inspiration and encouraged my love for the Essex countryside. We often went for walks to the lake, woods and a nature reserve, and my dad still paints the local area.’
