Tag, You're It!

No beloved physical matter with an Apple AirTag attached will ever disappear from its owner.

Tag, You're It!

We can’t deny that our memories are limited. Thus, there’s a chance of misplacing treasured or important items (especially keys) due to a lack of recollection. But trust technology to have a backup plan via Apple’s highly anticipated AirTag.

To be fair, there have been other trackers (or finders) like Tile and Chipolo before the advent of AirTag. If anything, the AirTag is just another expansion to Apple’s burgeoning ecosystem.

Apple has introduced this small, lightweight yet nifty iPhone gadget to help record and locate items using its Find My app. Anything essential or deem precious can be traced as AirTag taps into the global Find My network to track down a lost item while keeping location data private and anonymous with end-to-end encryption—Bluetooth signal identifiers transmitted by AirTag rotate frequently to prevent unwanted location tracking. So, no funny business like using it as a stalking device.

On a test run, AirTag beeps continuously with an in-built speaker when separated from its owner after some time. iOS devices can also detect AirTags that aren’t with their owners and notify the users if an unknown AirTag is seen to be travelling with them from place to place over time. In addition, if an unknown AirTag is present, users can tap on their iPhone or NFC-capable devices and follow instructions to disable it.
