Jake Gyllenhaal, Uncovered

Jake Gyllenhaal, Uncovered

If you've ever met Jake Gyllenhaal in person, the chances are high that you will not forget his eyes. Even when he's nowhere next to you. Even when the room manages to be simultaneously overly dim and overly bright (as party venues tend to be) and the place is packed with people constantly shuffling around in droves, your senses are pulverized by the ongoing loud music. Hot Chip has just finished their opening set and everyone's waiting for Phoenix to come on, just as Sienna Miller arrives at the scene, and Lily Collins poses for the camera. Then Idris Elba, Frieda Pinto, Jason Momoa, and dozens more celebrities walk through a specially commissioned Nonotak-designed light installation.

Amid the hazy, tub-thumping frenzy that was Cartier's annual international party in San Francisco-this was in 2018-Gyllenhaal's eyes met with mine. And for the briefest of moments, I couldn't hear anything, think anything, or say anything; I was transfixed.
