200-Crore Piggery Mission in Meghalaya

The main aim behind the recently launched piggery mission is for Meghalaya to become self-sufficient in pork production

Meghalaya has always been on top of the list when it comes to tourism, and the State has laid emphasis on improving roads and other infrastructure to ensure that more and more travellers visit all year round. It is true that tourism has allowed many talented locals to dabble in entrepreneurship. There are scores who have benefitted from the influx of tourists. But the government doesn’t only want to focus on tourism, which is why it is also investing in other fields such as farming and poultry to enable locals to earn a decent livelihood through other means as well. The 200-crore piggery mission is also another initiative to help generate employment and also give the local economy a boost.
