Tell us about your new concept?
I’m proud to say that Shopping At Tiffany’s was the first Singapore retailer to come up with a clothing drop-off service, which we call “Try Before You Buy”. The service gives our customers a personalised shopping experience!
When you join the Try Before You Buy club, you get the fitting-room experience in the comfort of your own home. It’s the ultimate in convenience. Now you can try clothes with your favourite accessories and shoes, so it helps cut down on impulsive or ill-fitting purchases.
How can we join the club?
You can sign up on our website, and then you select up to five items to try on. These get delivered to your doorstep on the same day, and you then have two days to try everything on. You can keep whatever you choose to buy, and I’ll collect the rest.
The feedback has been fantastic! Customers tell me they love the service, and they can’t believe how easy and fast the delivery is.
And you’re also offering “virtual shopping”; tell us about that.
Customers can book virtual shopping appointments with me. This is a fun way to window-shop from home, and then you can also opt to try before you buy, after our virtual experience.
How does your personal styling service work?
My customers can book a one-on-one styling session with me, where I suggest some outfits for them. I’ll help find perfect outfits for daily or weekend wear, as well as for special occasions.
Give us a peek into your future line of clothing and accessories.
I’m currently working on releasing a line of feminine-inspired silhouettes to frame every women’s body. I’ll also be designing a lot more one-shoulder and strapless dresses for my Kenz and Kate brand, as well as launching new designs and prints. I have fun beach bags coming in store for Christmas, too, and even some new homeware.
We’ve also just brought in some beautiful candles that would make great Christmas gifts – my favourite scent is Pomegranate. And we have some amazing fake tan that my daughter and I are obsessed with, as well as some new gemstone jewellery.
You can keep whatever you choose to buy, and I’ll collect the rest.
You mentioned Kenz and Kate; tell us a bit more about this label.
Our Kenz and Kate garments and beadworks are produced ethically through our factories in India and Bali, where we employ local artisans practicing age-old traditions and craftsmanship.
The dresses and jumpsuits are manufactured by a family business in Bali that provides fair wages and employment opportunities for local Balinese women.
Our silk kaftans are made with high-quality 100 percent silk fabrics from India. The intricate beadwork is skilfully handsewn, with each piece taking eight hours to complete.
Sustainability is something that’s very important to me. As a business, we support Fair Trade as well as ensuring our factories follow internationally recognised labour standards based on the International Labour Organization (ILO). We ensure we work with eco-friendly partners.
What are your faves from your current line of clothing?
I really like our linen collection, which aims to cater towards women who are always on the go. I wanted to offer my customers a selection of versatile, comfortable and stylish outfits, which can be dressed up and down.
Where are your current stores located?
We have three stores, one in Tanglin Mall which I’ve had for 13 years, one in Katong V, and we just launched our newest store in the heart of Holland Village, in the Raffles Holland V building where Sushi Tei, Virgin Active and DBS Bank are also located.
