SOME might think that the elation of winning a trophy wears off a little after doing it for the seventh time in two-and-a-half-years, but Kieran Tierney said the hard work required to attain such achievements, and the support from the fans along the way, has made him cherish every moment of his incredible journey.

To have won nine major trophies by the age of 21 is nothing short of incredible, and the excitement in Tierney’s eyes as he discusses clinching the League Cup, the ninth trophy of his senior career, shows just how much it means to him.

Sunday’s League Cup final win against Aberdeen continued Celtic’s domestic dominance under Brendan Rodgers, though the Dons made sure they had to work hard to get the win.

“It was a tough, tough game, not the best we’ve played in a final, but the heart and character we showed was really important,” Tierney told the Celtic View. “That’s a sign of a great team as well, when you’re not playing your best but can still grind out a win.

“We came into the game high in confidence off the back of the Europa League game, which helps when you come up against a good team like Aberdeen. They don’t go easy on us any time during the season.

“We know they’re going to be in our faces and trying to take advantage of us having tired legs. That was their game-plan and we knew they’d be like that with us, given they had a week since their last game.
